DAVID WILSON: ‘15 kHz’
«I keep asking myself whether my ‘quest’ is limited to a specific area – after all, I have spent much of my time here exploring the backwaters of East London – or whether it is a more introspective mission. To be honest, I believe that it’s a mixture of the two: every city has its own, unique identity, but as one moves away from the centre this tends to become watered down, revealing a more accurate perspective of the human condition – or something of the sort. Strangely, even though London as a city undoubtedly has its own strong personality, I get the impression that I am wandering around in a place that is completely neutral and with a strong symbolic character. This is why I have no hesitation in including photos shot elsewhere, in any place where I feel similar sensations; but I cannot claim that all this is anything more than a sort of strange and very personal diary».
