SCALE
«The serie “Scale” was photographed in Lanzarote, a spanish volcanic island which embodies the existence of two parallel worlds. On one hand mass tourism, and on the other, force of nature in it’s most arid apperance: frozen fields of lava and cactus. I could easily understand why volcanos have been at the origin of various beliefs and superstitions. They were absolutely quiet and beautiful, yet the landscapes were perfectly clear about their potential strengh. I tried to capture this atmosphere that I supposed similar to an original untouched state. The choosen landscapes bring, in a litteral and figurative way, the scale of representation and Human’s place into question. My approach to photography has always been directly connected to earth. Almost like (at least I suppose) a farmer will. Earth like a factor of identity, a feeling of belonging, some kind of patriotism dedicated to the nature of the ground and not to a specific country. Like lot of people nowadays, I am from various origins. To photograph landscapes is a way of knowing better the place where I am, where I go, and finding a path for connections.»
